Universal joint bearing refers to the application of the ball type articulation to complete the power transmission of different shafts of the mechanical structure, is a very important part of the automotive bearings. The combination of universal joint and transmission shaft is called universal joint transmission.


A cross-bolt bearing is a type of bearing, usually the main crankshaft bearing in a piston engine. Most bearing caps are held in place by two bolts, one on each side of the bearing journal and parallel to the cylinder axis (or, on V-type engines, parallel to the axis that bisects the V-angle). Cross-bolt bearings have one or more additional bolts at right angles to the cylinder and crankshaft axes. These can be either a single through bolt from one side through the crankcase to the other, or two blind bolts screwed into the bearing cap from each side. The cross-bolt connection has two advantages: it joins the two sides of the crankcase together, making it stiffer and less likely to twist as a whole.

Universal joint bearing precautions Edit
When disassembling, handling and stockpiling, collision and stacking must be avoided.
Frequently check the sealing condition of intermediate support bearings, cross shaft bearings and sliding splines, and replace the failed oil seals in time.
Frequently inject grease, in order to make the universal joint bearings can be fully lubricated, the lubricant must be squeezed out from the oil seals of the bearings. In order to lubricate the middle support bearing, the lubricant should be squeezed out from the ventilation hole of the front bearing cover.
Frequently check and tighten the connecting bolts of the drive shaft and supporting parts.
Often check the diameter and axial clearance of the intermediate support bearing, the axial clearance of the cross shaft, the clearance between the cross shaft and the bearing, the clearance between the bearing and the fork hole of the universal joint, and the circumferential clearance of the sliding spline pair.

Check whether the drive shaft is bent, dented, and whether the balance piece is off.
